What is Fraxel Laser Removal?

Fraxel Laser works by piercing the skin to stimulate new collagen and elastin. The Fraxel Laser can resurface skin, reduce pigmentation and scarring, as well as smoothen fine lines and wrinkles. This laser is more advanced than other lasers on the market, and delivers real results.

What are Fraxel Lasers used for?

Fraxel Lasers can be used to treat acne scarring, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage. The laser is most commonly used to treat the face. However, it can also be used to treat other areas such as the arms, neck, and decolletage. Laser treatments work better than any topical creams or medications for treating acne scarring. Lasers penetrate deeper into the skin to remove scar tissue and create textures. Creams and ointments can only go so far and won't make the difference.

Are there different types Fraxel Lasers available?

You can find a variety of Fraxel lasers in dermatologist's offices. The Fraxel Restore is available at Lucere. The Fraxel Restore is a great option for indications with minimal downtime. This laser has two wavelengths which is a benefit. The one wavelength is especially useful for treating pigmentation and sun damage, while the second wavelength can be used to treat textured issues such as wrinkles and acne scarring.

Fraxel Restore has a key feature: it is non-ablative. This means there are no open wounds, and downtime is significantly reduced when compared to other Fraxel lasers. Fraxel Dual Laser, and Fraxel Repair are two other Fraxel lasers. Fraxel Repair is an ultra-powerful fractionated carbon dioxide laser which treats extremely severe cases. You will need to be able to use it for longer periods of time.

This lovely client of Lucere wanted to reduce her brown spots and appear younger. We were able to reduce the appearance of brown spots, and give her skin a radiant, youthful glow with Lucere's Skin Resurfacing Treatment.

How does Fraxel Laser work?

The laser creates tiny, microthermal zones within the deeper layers of skin. This triggers the body’s natural healing response to speed up. This stimulates the growth of healthy, new skin cells that replace damaged or older cells. These cellular turnovers and collagen production are truly working from the inside.

How can you prepare for Fraxel laser treatment

It's important that you are aware of these things if you have been booked for Fraxel Resurfacing. Your retinols, and products containing salicylic acid or glycolic acids must be stopped at least seven days prior to your treatment. Two weeks prior to your treatment, you should not have any skin tan or burned.

It is important to make sure there isn't any self-tanner in the treated area. Pre-treatment, you should not wax the treated area. Pre-treatment should not include the application of depilatory creams for at least 2 weeks. You should also ensure that there are no active acne or cold sores on your skin.

Is Fraxel Skin Resurfacing painful?

Laser treatments can be uncomfortable. But at Lucere we strive to make the experience as painless and comfortable as possible. You will be numbed before Fraxel so it shouldn't be too uncomfortable. You will feel a slight stinging or prickling sensation. Although pain tolerance is subjective, most clients tolerate the treatment well.

What is the cost of Fraxel?

Fraxel Skin Resurfacing treatments cost $1,500 for the face and $2,000 for the neck and chest.

Is there any downtime or side effects?

Although they are known for being a very aggressive laser treatment, Fraxels have been shown to have minimal side effects. Clients may experience some purging, particularly whiteheads. Laser treatment results in rapid skin turnover.

Clients can expect some redness, swelling, and peeling during downtime. You'll notice redness, swelling, and throbbing within the first two days. It's very similar to sunburn. Skin will start to peel between days 3 and 5. Avoid tearing off the skin flakes. You risk scarring. These side effects usually disappear within weeks. You should plan ahead - avoid major events and public outings if there are any chances that people will see the swelling, reddening and peeling.

Is Fraxel safe?

The Fraxel Skin Resurfacing treatment can be used on all skin types. This treatment can be very aggressive so consult with a dermatologist who is board certified and his team to make sure this is the right treatment for you.

How many sessions should you have with Fraxel to see the results?

The number of sessions required depends on the treatment being done and the client's needs. If clients are trying to treat pigment, it is not unusual for them to see results within one to two sessions. A single session with the 1927 wavelength can reduce pigment discoloration by up to 80%. A few months later, you may need to have maintenance sessions using lighter lasers such as the Clear + Brilliant. For treatment of acne scarring and wrinkles, you will need to have three to five sessions spaced four weeks apart. These conditions can be treated using the 1550 wavelength.

What is the average time Fraxel results last?

Fraxel Skin Resurfacing treatments typically last for one year. This means that you can have one Fraxel treatment per year and possibly use less aggressive lasers throughout to maintain your results. This is not a general rule that applies to all clients. Every client has different skin conditions.

This beautiful client from Lucere was concerned about sun damage and brown spots. We were able remove brown spots and discoloration using the Fraxel Skin Resurfacing Treatment.

Is it possible to wear makeup after Fraxel has been completed?

Fraxel treatments are not recommended for use within the first week. It is best to avoid using any other products than a mild face wash, vitamin C serum or soothing moisturizer on your skin.

After a Fraxel, can you get in the sun?

Absolutely not. You should not be exposed to the sun after Fraxel treatments. Always wear sunscreen with a minimum of 30 SPF. You don't want your skin to become more pigmented. Fraxel treatments shouldn't be used in summer. Instead, plan to use them when the sun is lower.
